Host Every Second Tuesday of the Month JOHN SANDERS - Naval Postgraduate School John Sanders has been a member of the NPS staff since 1984 and has held several positions during that time – from writer/editor to public affairs officer and acting director of institutional advancement. As director of university relations his work focuses on advancement, communications, faculty relations, media relations, public outreach, and historical programs. He has helped NPS gain national and international press coverage and has worked with virtually all major U.S. media – broadcast media such as NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, PBS, NPR; daily news services and newspapers from the Associated Press to the Los Angeles Times, New York Times and USA Today; news magazines including U.S. News & World Report, Time, Newsweek and feature magazines such as the New Yorker, National Geographic, Popular Science and Discover. He has also worked with many professional and scientific societies such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science Astronautics, Association for Computing Machinery, American Institute of Physics, American Meteorological Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Military Operations Research Society and Operations Research Society of America. He has contributed articles to publications ranging from Aerospace America to Weatherwise magazine and to books such as The Dictionary of Professional Military Education. His wife teaches elementary school and his two sons attended public schools in the Monterey Peninsula School District and Monterey Peninsula College before going on to a university for their undergraduate degrees. His elder son now teaches high school and coaches football and his younger son is a nurse with a specialty in cardiac care.
